Cobalt lung and vaping
Cobalt lung, a condition where the lungs become scarred from repeated inhalation of heavy metals, has been diagnosed in a woman who used a vape pen for marijuana after just 6 months.
There are more questions than answers as to the root cause, but scientists are discovering cobalt, lead, and aluminum are leaking from some e-cigarette heating coils and entering the respiratory systems of users. The CDC says more than 800 illnesses and 12 deaths have been attributed to vapes containing THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.
When first introduced, vapes were marketed as a safer alternative to cigarettes. That claim was shot down as high usage and addiction rates, especially among teens, skyrocketed. Now with cases like cobalt lung and other illnesses coming to light, tossing the vape is the smart move.

Slipstream
I think about the people who vape marijuana to help them deal with the side effects of chemo and then face the possibility of cobalt lung. This reminds me of the Phillips CPAP machine that was delivering debris into users' lungs. It's criminal what manufacturers get away with.
