Fetal Alcohol Syndrome—it's not just mom
If you were to do an online search of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), every article would define it as a condition in a child that results from alcohol exposure during the mother's pregnancy—the blame for the condition is laid at the mother's feet.
Texas A&M University researchers, however, determined that the father's drinking habits can negatively impact placenta development and IVF outcomes, and influence FAS.
In an article published this month, researchers reveal that it takes much longer than previously thought for the health and activity of a father's sperm to normalize after abstaining from alcohol.
Abnormal facial features, low birth weight, attention and hyperactivity issues, and poor coordination are conditions related to FAS, and experts have revised their recommendations as to when men should stop drinking to encourage a healthy pregnancy.

I didn't know this. So this is news to me. I'm glad someone decided to look into this, especially since alcohol abuse in young people is at an all-time high. Now they can't put all the blame on the mom.

This is so surprising and really should be widely broadcast. Men will now need to do their part as well. Thanks for posting!
