Pesticides in baby food
Troubling data found in a recent US study finds that nearly 40% of baby food contains toxic pesticides, some linked to hormonal disruption, cancer, and nervous and reproductive system damage.
There's a silver lining in that none of the pesticides were detected in organic baby food, and according to a study co-author, the prices of organic and regular baby food are comparable.
You can learn more here, including how a 40% detection rate in baby food is actually less than in the 1990s.

Slipstream
With all that's been discovered about the damage of toxic pesticides to the environment, insects, animals, and humans, the fact that it's still legal to use these pesticides on food being consumed by infants is outrageous. It seems to me using "reasonable certainty” that pesticide residue won't harm babies and young children is a pretty low threshold of safety.
I would expect better from our government protection agencies, but this is one more demonstration of how corporations are clearly the ones in charge; not our government, and certainly not us.

There are good people in government, but they are not in charge. If they want to keep their jobs, they have to zip it or risk losing their livelihood. Citizens United upended integrity in government. Whether it's a politician, or a low level FDA inspector, money talks and people are bought off every day. Corporations essentially have free rein to poison the air, the oceans, the earth, and we the people. We all feel helpless, but we do have power to boycott companies that do bad things once we hear about it.
