This is your brain on gratitude
When I began my career in the fitness industry, strength training, cardiovascular exercise, and nutrition were in the spotlight. Years later, sleep, stress management, and overall mindset began receiving well-deserved and overdue attention for their effects on health.
One particular aspect of mindset is especially powerful—gratitude. You’ll be hard-pressed to find an article or YouTube video about self-care that doesn’t recommend practicing gratitude.
I routinely discuss with my clients how gratitude can positively impact the immune system, circadian rhythm, and heart and brain health (this is of particular interest to my older clientele).
In this article from the Center for Neuro Wellness, we learn about 7 ways gratitude rewires the brain and how these changes benefit us, including reducing our inherent negativity biases, building resilience, improving relationships, and promoting a growth mindset.

Thank you for posting. I’ve been practicing gratitude each day for the last few months and it definitely has improved my disposition and perspective in so many ways. With everything going on personally and in our country, it’s best to anchor in gratitude. We are surrounded by so many blessings, just have to look for them, and be still in gratitude.

Great article. Thank you for posting this.
Fortunately I learned about the benefits of practicing gratitude decades ago when I was teaching stress management classes. I’ve kept my daily gratitude journal since then and it has helped me in a number of ways. I’m particularly partial to #3 reducing negativity bias and #4 emotional regulation.
In my ideal world these seven steps would be taught in grade school.

Looking at life through the lens of gratitude makes everything we see and experience feel more positive. I appreciated the way Ms. Greene concisely laid out her seven-step article. Thanks for posting it!

Thanks for sharing the link to this article. Very informative. I think it may also be important to feel and express gratitude toward ourselves. I say this because the other night before falling asleep, after expressing gratitude for all I have, including friends, family, and helpers, this echoed back at me: "Be grateful for all you do, too."
