Take the off-ramp for goodwill
It was a typical Friday evening on Interstate 10 in Los Angeles. Traffic was bumper-to-bumper, moving intermittently at 5 miles per hour. I needed to move over three lanes for my offramp, and my fellow drivers weren’t particularly accommodating or courteous. With my signal blinking, I inched my way across the lanes while being honked at and barely avoiding contact with other cars. I exited with a tightened jaw and a vice-like grip on the wheel.
Reaching the stop light, I looked over and saw something that hadn’t been there the day before, affecting me profoundly. A sign had been posted a few feet from the street that read, “Have a blessed day! I love you.” A smile came to my face and my entire body relaxed.
Taking a photo of the sign, I appreciated that someone, wanting to spread goodwill, not only had the idea to create it and took action, but they cleverly placed it in a spot where people, feeling like me, could benefit from its kind message. This sign was the perfect antidote for my freeway angst, replacing tension with tranquility and gratitude.

A great reminder that no matter what is going on in our day...it can be a blessed day if we shift our perspective.

This story grabbed my attention. It just goes to show that it's the simplest things that can trigger a smile. Whoever tacked up the sign could've been fined for defacing public property, so this was a bold and radical act of kindness. God bless whoever took the risk to pass the blessing along--and thank you for sharing the find.
