When it came to masking during the pandemic, Japan was the undisputed champion, with large numbers of people remaining masked after mandates were lifted. All this masking resulted in considerably less smiling, literally weakening people's facial muscles, making smiling feel awkward and challenging.

Keiko Kawano is known as "The Smile Guru" and teaches students exercises to build both conditioning and confidence in sharing their smiles with others again.

While watching this video, I noticed it didn't take long before my face actually hurt which indicates I need to exercise my smile. Since I feel uplifted when I smile, it'll be easy to do it often.

Years ago, I watched a program about car shows, and the models hired to stand next to vehicles and take photos talked about how sore their faces would get from hours of smiling.
