The Project 2025 plan for ultra-processed foods

News Flash

The notoriety surrounding The Heritage Foundation’s “Project 2025” has been around topics like abortion rights, immigration, energy, and education. However, the 887-page document also contains plans that could eliminate the U.S. Dietary Guidelines and impede efforts to limit the availability of ultra-processed foods to consumers.

While some view the Project's plans for food and farming guidelines as pro-business, Marion Nestle, a nutrition and food policy professor calls this a deregulatory agenda and says, “...what we know historically from deregulation is that it’s really bad for consumers, it’s bad for workers, it’s bad for the environment.”

Ultra-processed foods contribute to obesity and a myriad of health conditions and are linked to behavioral issues. Regarding Project 2025’s plans, nutrition professor Lindsey Smith Taillie says, “It’s almost like they’re removing scientific evidence from federal food policy.”

Additionally, Project 2025 proposes reducing funding of food assistance programs and ending support for school meals. After all, hungry and undernourished kids make the best learners, right?

Slipstream

Feeding children two nutritious meals at school isn't a money maker, therefore, expendable. Junk food is good because it's addicting, and let's face it, a sick nation puts lots of dollars in corporations pockets—hospitals, drug companies, insurance companies, and makes billions for the junk food manufacturers. People's lives don't fit into the Project 2025 plan. The corporations are kings. We have to fight it and its charlatan creators at every turn.

Evangel

Project 2025 is a bold declaration of war by the corporate elite against the American people. Their systematic immorality advances under the pretense of morality. Remember the "Moral" Majority? Remember the "Christian" Coalition's foot soldiers stumping for Republicans at the top of the ticket and down ballot for decades? With Trump, it's gone to the next absurd level, making him their stooge by flattering him as "a vessel of God" and "the second coming". He's under their spell and, likewise, Magamania is under Trump's spell. No good can come of this. It never has and never will. Simply put, it's greed masquerading as God.
