From laboratory to dinner table
In what may be a massive technological advancement for the food industry, two companies have been given approval by the FDA to begin commercial production and sales of lab-grown chicken in the US.
As animal agriculture accounts for nearly 15% of human-caused global greenhouse gas emissions, companies are working on alternatives that can potentially cut those emissions.
Tissue samples are taken from living animals and grown in a lab. As the cells grow and multiply, they can be processed into food.
The two companies who've received approval, Eat Just and Upside Foods, plan to bring their cell-cultivated chicken to restaurants in DC and San Francisco in a few months. I, for one, am very interested in trying a dish. You?

A green light to sell their products is good news for the company. They will no doubt add ample lipstick on their pig to spur sales, but this novelty is an untested, longterm experiment on us human guinea pigs, more so than vaccines. The FDA approved hotdogs preserved in nitrates decades ago, but now we know they damage the body, sometimes irreparably. No thanks. Not for me.
Sanatana
Nope! I won't be trying this. Even if wasn't vegan!
Slipstream
Nope, not for me. Just reading about it turns my stomach 😝
