Teen No Longer Eating Lunch Alone

Andrew Kirby was eating alone in his South Carolina high school cafeteria when he was invited to join a group of students at their table. And it wasn’t a one-off good deed. Andrew now has a new group of friends to sit with every day.
I wish more schools would follow the example of the Boiling Springs High School Student Council. They saw a fellow student being ignored and stepped up to make him feel safe and welcome.

It's heartwarming to read so many stories about kids being kind and thoughtful. It means the teachers are doing a fantastic job. Any school that gets a news story like this should be awarded for creating a better society, and the teachers should all receive a salary increase.

This young man's experience is all too common in schools. The student council was wise, kind and aware beyond their years. I could imagine his welcome into the group will change not only his life, his mom's, as well as the council members... going forward. People who look or act different from the norm are often bullied and made fun of. This school is definitely doing something to inspire its student to reach out.
