Meeting The Challenge With Grit And Courage
For 43 days, Kelsey Pfendler woke up alone in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with one goal: keep rowing.
The 32-year-old set out to become the youngest and fastest woman, and the first American woman to row solo from Monterey, California, to Honolulu.
Pfendler covered the more than 2,400-mile journey in just 43 days, breaking the previous women's record by more than 43 days and surpassing the men's 52-day record as well. Hundreds gathered on a Honolulu beach, celebrating and welcoming her as she rowed ashore.
Few of us will face the physical challenge Kelly did, but her grit, courage, and determination inspire us to keep going, even in our most challenging circumstances.
