Young and old alike are struggling to make ends meet, achieve the American dream, or keep their heads above water. Their stories aren't regional. They're nationwide. And there are more Americans falling through the cracks every day.
This is why people are losing their cookies. It's hard to hold it together when you've got nothing left to hold onto. Nobody at the top's gonna fix this problem. They got the power to do something but not the brains or heart.
A nation's fundamental role through government leadership is to protect its citizens--not just against an attack on the homeland, but against assaults on the human condition, be it from violence, indignity, or poverty.
By and large, our government has long devoted itself to protecting the wealthy and the corporate entities that pay their bills. It has increasingly funneled welfare to corporations through taxation, leaving a pittance for people to get by on. It's the American way, and Americans are too numb to do anything other than vote for the next guy who promises the world but takes us down into the next rung of hell.
These are all very tough stories, and I'm brought to tears by Mrs. Carlson. It's heartbreaking that a senior has to pound the pavement looking for employment, and I hate that stories like hers will only become more common.
When I read these stories, I want to help. But I can't so I pray for them. Prayers work. But the housing crisis is breaking lots of good people. Seniors should get enough social security to afford a place, and rent hikes on seniors should be legally limited to the annual COLA increase amount.

It's shameful, and those in charge are ignoring it because they don't feel it. Put them in real life for a month, and they'd crumble.

It's brutal what's happening to people. As we pray for our own needs, we pray for them too.

Our system becomes more broken every day. People like these in the video are completely overlooked, and few in power care.
