When our government fails us, love steps in

Wish has not yet been granted
Wishing Well

As people go hungry while Congress and the White House continue to bicker and bluster, Americans are speaking out and stepping up to help each other. Here's one woman in East Hampton, Connecticut, who had a simple idea, and her neighbors and local residents are benefiting.

My wish is that the government take a lesson from the people who are actually demonstrating the human spirit of helping families in trouble. Thank you to Ashley Manning of East Hampton and all the others who are finding ways to help.

Regardless of her beliefs, this woman puts into practice a down-home Christian ethic to help others get through their tough moment.

Republican leaders, however, dismiss this kind of neighborly love as socialist, Marxist, or even communist—threatening labels used by MAGA to define Zohran Mamdani in the hopes of derailing his climb into office.

That said, I doubt your wish will be fulfilled any time soon, but it's a nice wish anyhow, and I thank you for sharing this story.

I also wish people would open their eyes and see who's getting benefits and who's not—the wealthy are getting all the breaks while those in need get nothing. At least people have each other to turn to, and humanity is showing up there.

Well Street

In times of hardship and tragedy, people often ask, "I wish there were something I could do, but what?" Her empathy and ingenuity provided an answer that brings hope to the underserved in her community.

Thank you for sharing.

It was an easy solution too. And once the rack was up and word got out, others also donated. Kindness brings out the kindness in others, and they feel good knowing they've contributed to someone's well-being.
