Trailblazer woman arrives in Major League Baseball

District topic

On August 10, history was made. Jen Pawol became the first woman ever to umpire a Major League Baseball regular-season game, stepping onto the field at Truist Park in a game between the Miami Marlins and the Atlanta Braves. She was greeted with a standing ovation and signs reading “Pawol making HERstory.”

After more than a decade in the minor leagues, Pawol finally lived her dream. “The dream actually came true,” she said, describing feeling like “a fully charged battery” when the call came. Read about Jen's trailblazing climb to reach her years-long dream in The Guardian:

ESPN gave this story a lot of attention, and rightfully so.

I wonder if there are any other female umpires in the minor leagues, and if so, will they soon get the call?
