Courage or insanity? Maybe a little of both since she had never rowed before signing up to do this. But, omg, her parents must have been nervous wrecks on pins and needles the entire time she was out there rowing.
She says she knew that she could do it. I'd love to hear her talk about how she knew and what life experiences she's had that built that degree of self-confidence.
I'd also be interested to see a scan of her brain and how it differs from those of us who would have no inkling of rowing the Atlantic, especially solo.
A brain scan would be interesting, but I'm sure ambition and inspiration played a significant role in driving her to such an extreme—and it is extreme. As to her confidence, that's always a good question to ponder. It's possible her parents were strong advocates of her ambitions and told her she could do anything she set her mind to.

Pretty crazy, but she had the courage and confidence to take it on. And she succeeded. Amazing.
