Dreaming big and overcoming all the obstacles

Raye Montague overcame racism, sexism, and a segregated school system to become the first person to design a ship by computer. Denied entry to engineering school because she was a Black woman, she forged her own path—teaching herself programming and rising through the Navy to revolutionize ship design.
A trailblazer for women, African Americans, and anyone ever told they weren’t allowed to dream big, Raye Montague changed the face of engineering and never looked back. Read her full story:

I loved her story, and I'm happy you did too 😀

Great trailblazer story. I'm sure this is one that Trump would love to scrub from the historic record!

I thought about that too. Amazing how successful, brilliant black women have dumb white guys shaking in their boots.

President Nixon is rightfully infamous, but kudos to him for recognizing the talents of Ms. Montague.
Many people hold themselves back with barriers of their own creation and never reach their full potential. Then there are the likes of Ms. Montague, who face very real societal obstacles, but their belief in themselves is like a wrecking ball, paving a path forward.
Thank you for introducing us to this inspirational woman.
