A Miracle For One, But What About All The Others

News Flash

This story's about Richard Pulley, a 78-year-old retiree who was DoorDashing to pay for his wife’s medications.

After seeing him on their front door camera, a kind, compassionate family stepped in and set up a GoFundMe page for Richard. Thirty thousand people donated and raised close to a million dollars.

I love stories like this, but I couldn’t help but feel bittersweet this time. The sweet, of course, was that Richard received such a huge outpouring of love from strangers. The bitter was why he was put in this situation. I was happy, but also angry and sad.

As I watched Richard struggle up the steps with the delivery in hand, I thought about the billionaires with their golden toilets, the billions of dollars being spent on bombs and missiles, and the construction of a ballroom for the tuxedoed to throw their parties.

There are so many like Richard who won’t receive a windfall. What happens to them?

Something has to change.
