Happy Harvesters volunteers

Wishing Well

Youtropolis has formed an alliance with Happy Harvesters, a grassroots movement that gleans produce from neighborhood backyard trees and donates it to local food banks. The produce (oranges, lemons, grapefruit, etc.), too often goes unpicked and rots on the trees producing methane gas while thousands of families go without fresh produce.

Happy Harvesters and Youtropolis will be teaming up for an orange picking event on Saturday, April 29, at 10 a.m. in Long Beach. I’ve signed up, and I’m looking for any happy volunteers who’d like to join me. With a few volunteers, it’s easy to pick the tree in a couple of hours and fill the boxes for a food bank pickup. It’s a great way to meet people, chat as you pick, and have some laughs while also providing food to families in need.

My wish is for 3 more people to volunteer with taking oranges off the tree. If you can join in, please click the link below to sign up, and be sure to bring your work gloves. Everything else will be provided.
Thanks in advance for fulfilling my wish!
