Don’t trip over what’s behind you.
I have a pretty, heart-shaped ceramic box that belonged to my grandma. I call it my grandma’s heart, and it’s the keeper of notes I’ve made when I’ve heard or read something that resonates with me. A few times a week, I close my eyes and pick a note from my grandma’s heart and see what wisdom I receive.
Today’s note read, “Don’t trip over what’s behind you.” I laughed because just yesterday I was replaying a conversation over in my head where I wished I’d said things differently. I felt the original upset and negativity as I imagined what I should have said in several different ways. But what made it laughable was the incident took place, not recently, but years ago.
The “tip” from my grandma’s heart is now my pledge to stay in the present, deal with what’s before me, and not look in the rearview mirror.
How about you? Have you gotten caught up in the “should haves” from long ago to the point of upset? Please feel free to share your experience.

Such a perfect container for notes of wisdom and inspiration.
A particularly venomous comment from an ex-girlfriend of more than ten years ago will occasionally surface in my mind, followed by thoughts of "I should have said so-and-so and really put her in her place."
There are better things for me to put energy into than my ex's ancient insult. Your post will help me dismiss it if and when it surfaces again. Thank you!

Let's try laughing if they try to appear. Laughter can cure almost anything.

What great advice. Too often, we make our lives miserable by dwelling in the past. And there's nothing that can be done about it. Spilled milk, as they say. Love this little piece!
