Synthetic turf no longer the drought fix darling
It seems there are environmental issues with synthetic turf that were overlooked when it was originally touted as the drought-friendly lawn alternative. Now, it's been determined that the rubber backing can leach PFAS chemicals into the environment in extreme heat. Some California cities have already begun moving to prohibit fake lawns.

The list of products containing PFAS and releasing them into the environment, food chain, and water supply continues to grow.
I commend those cities taking steps to remove turf and the companies producing it that invest resources to find safer materials.
Yet another case of "If we knew then what we know now."
