Be on alert: A new QR code scam is here!

News Flash

This image is a local post from Redondo Beach CA, but this new scam involving fake QR codes has emerged at parking lot payment kiosks all over the country.

In this scam, drivers unknowingly scan a fake QR code, which redirects them to a fraudulent site that collects their payment information. Victims often realize they've been scammed only after discovering unauthorized charges on their credit cards.

To avoid falling victim, always verify that the QR code is legitimate and check the URL it directs you to. If you're unsure, use an alternative payment method.

There's no moral code anymore. Everyone thinks they're above the law. They think it's just business and nothing more. Catch us if you can is their motto. QR codes provide convenience but also a lot more inconvenience for those who scan unaware of the scam. Thanks for sharing this info.

Yes, you have to be very careful where you use them. Not so convenient if they're fake.

The recurring thought I have each time I read about a new scam—"If only they would use their ingenuity to help people instead of hurting them."

Thank you for this useful information.
