Make Someone's Day

Knowledge

It’s been a mess in my neighborhood for over three months. But now, the long-awaited street replacement has finally been completed, and the grinding and pounding of heavy equipment at 7 a.m. has come to an end.

Yesterday, one of the workers came to pick up the flashing barricades and sandbags that had been stacked next to my yard since before Christmas. I thanked him and told him how much I appreciated their work and the new street.

He paused and asked me to repeat it. Then he said he was surprised; he usually only hears complaints, not compliments. He thanked me and said I’d made his day.

It was a quick lesson on how easy it is to make someone’s day. Just a simple “thank you” can do it.

It's grace at work. Whenever you're inspired to compliment someone else, there's a little angel on your shoulder trying to uplift someone else. When someone receives a compliment, you're adding to the goodness in the world which always counters the darkness. And since you took time to share this moment, I can tell it brightened your day, too. Thank you for reminding us how simple it is to uplift others. 💛

What a great thing you did! Sometimes making people feel good takes so little effort. That was wonderful of you to pay him a compliment. No wonder he asked you to repeat it.

I try to compliment as many people as I can when I see an opportunity. It always pays off when I see the smile on the person's face.

Yes, there's a big payoff in the smiles you receive in return.

When someone's "go-to" is complaining and focusing on the negative, there's a sad story that laid the groundwork for that perspective on life.

Fortunate are those who enjoy raising spirits through authentic compliments.

It feels better internally to compliment.
