Smarter than you think
Crows have overtaken my yard this spring. I used to have lots of finches and hummingbirds hanging out at my fountain, but this year, the crows have claimed my entire yard as theirs. When I was doing a bit of research on them, I ran across this video. I was very surprised to see how smart these creatures are, so now I'm not sure I can outwit them. Take a look; you, too, may be surprised.

A client of mine has several that show up in his yard. He said crows can be vindictive in addition to being intelligent, so he never tries to shoo them away.

I know they're smart because when I was a kid living on the ranch they would pick up walnuts from the ground, fly over the paved road, and drop the walnut to break it open for feasting, but the video was pretty amazing. And your client is right, they are definitely bold, self-confident... and big!
