Plan Now So You Can Enjoy The Holidays

Knowledge

Two big holidays are coming up, and we all know how quickly expenses add up. First, Thanksgiving, followed by holiday shopping, decorations, travel, and all the other things that come with this time of year.

If you've been putting money aside in your savings envelope, jar, or account, congratulations! You've worked to build that little nest egg, so try not to use it for holiday expenses.

One way to keep your holiday money apart from your regular savings is to set up a separate holiday spending account.

I’ll be sharing ideas in the coming weeks to help you earn some extra cash, so you won't have to dip into the money you've already saved or use your credit card.

You can also get a head start by being mindful of what you spend between now and the holidays. Remember the Thanksgiving article? You don't need to buy a lot of new decorations or tableware to make the day special. Use what you have, ask guests to bring a dish, and put the money you save toward your holiday spending fund.

A little planning now can make the holidays easier on your wallet later.
