A Little Planning, a Lot of Thanksgiving

Knowledge

Thanksgiving doesn't need a makeover. It's a time to gather with family and friends, give thanks for the people in our lives, and appreciate the good things we share. What makes the day special isn't how much we spend, but the people around the table and the memories we make together.

Spending money on items you don't need isn't necessary. Using the dishes you already have is perfectly acceptable.

You can add a few candles, gather some colorful fall leaves, and create a beautiful natural centerpiece. A favorite tablecloth, cloth napkins, or handwritten place cards can make the table feel special, too.

To make it a real family affair, invite guests to bring a favorite dish or dessert. It takes some pressure off you and gives everyone a chance to contribute to the celebration.

Your Savings Grace Assignment:

Before buying anything new for Thanksgiving, shop your own home first and set a spending limit for extras.

Spending $50 or more on decorations you don't need leaves you with $50 less for groceries, bills, or savings.

A little planning can make Thanksgiving special without making your wallet feel the pinch.
