Ten Reasons You Should Judge Yourself, Seriously!

Knowledge

I'll try to keep this simple and as brief as necessary.

Lately I've seen loads of horse**** from influencers who aspire to be "the best version" of themselves. Well, pray Jesus, what in the name of sweet potatoes does that mean? At the same time, these wizards tell us we shouldn't judge ourselves. Now how in God's name does anyone arrive at their best imaginary self without any self-judgment?

Look, we men are all a fat bag of mixed nuts. You know it, I know it. You can pick at it all day long, but if there's some better version of those nuts inside of you, you won't find it until you start genuinely judging those nuts and weeding out the rancid ones.

So, to help you out, here are ten reasons to dig down and judge what's inside your bag. Hopefully you'll find some that look like better angels instead of just a nut.

1. You're fake. You pretend you're the best version of yourself when you know you're not. Even worse, you charge big bucks to teach others how to fake it till they make it. Instead, be real and teach that.

2. You judge others. When you judge someone else, you become smug and happy that someone's not quite as (pick your adjective) as you are. Judge why you judge others and learn from that.

3. You're distant and above others. You see yourself as part of a hierarchical group you don't actually belong to, but wish you did. Nothing wrong with hoping, but find your league and be cool with that.

4. You're mean-spirited. You feel entitled to treat others like crap, kick them around, and prove your masculinity. Maybe others will buy it, but you know better. You've been a wimp all your life.

5. You haven't grown up. This means no one can really count on you for much. You flake. You make excuses. You have more important things to do. But you know the truth, you enjoy having no responsibilities. Time to man up.

6. You think DJT is the bomb. You want to be just like him. This is a reflection of your own desire to say eff-you to the world. That's a teenager speaking inside of you, not your better angels. Grow up.

7. You're corrupt. You don't give a crap about hurting others. It may even be fun to fantasize about inflicting revenge on others, or causing others pain, suffering, or great loss for no reason at all. Seek mental health support. You need it.

8. You're an addict. You can't admit it, though. You pretend you have it all under control, but you know you don't. You refuse to do anything about fixing it. Time to own it, judge it, and seek out a program to get you clean.

9. You're a narcissist. The world must revolve around you. When it doesn't, you throw an unsightly, scary tantrum to get the unwarranted attention you crave. Newsflash: the world won't ever revolve around you unless you mange to claw your way up into the Oval Office and sit behind the Resolute desk.

10. You intentionally humiliate others and feel pumped after doing it. Bad on you. Karma awaits. Figure out why you need to feel so powerful and superior to others. Get your act together and be a better human.

Your better angels await.

This is a fantastic playbook! Your years on this planet have given you so much wisdom. "Well, pray Jesus, what in the name of sweet potatoes does that mean?" Priceless!

Present Valley

On a light note, I love sweet potatoes, thank you for giving me a new way to use the words. 😊

This post gave me pause to think about what influencers are supposed to do. I don't know too much about them, but I think they are supposed to build trust and provide value to their readers/subscribers. Everyone who posts or comments on Youtropolis does that.

You are right there with Socrates in believing we need to look at ourselves. Although Freud got the credit for saying this, it was actually Socrates..."The unexamined life is not worth living."

Now the influencers that you describe, and there is no shortage right now, well, one can only hope that people will eventually wake up and see them for who and what they are. Perhaps there should be another name for them that includes a more accurate description which you have so beautifully laid out...narcissist, addict, fake, corrupt, mean spirited.

Thank you for this simple yet necessary post!
