Understanding The Signals In This Dystopian Photo

News Flash

The US-China delegation might as well have crawled up into a treehouse outfitted with a "NO GIRLS ALLOWED" warning sign nailed to its door. But, then, the true meaning of this photo would have been missed.

At such an important meeting, who would've thought the gender that leans most toward peace would deliberately be excluded? But nothing surprises me now. I presume the boys, seated and suited up like men, would have found women to be an annoying distraction.

The formalities of this meeting, its high stakes, left no room for bruised male egos should a woman suggest the brightest idea in the room. It's no place for embarrassment or insult. The boys would also feel more relaxed and important talking man-to-man—no need to mind their Ps and Qs or sweat over inappropriate male banter.

But what nobody's talking about is the much more serious purpose for this old-school exclusion. The elitists chose this important occasion, and the photo-op it afforded, to signal a new social reality to its global audience.

The dystopian photo of men conferencing around a coffin-shaped plot of astroturf covered in silk flowers sums it up: the era of women in the workplace is dead. Men will take it from here.

We knew the burial plot was underway when Trump promised to send "DEI hires" packing. Women, the new order leaders determined, must be pulled from the global workforce to ensure adequate jobs for men. But that reason was kept under wraps.

Just as automobiles replaced horses over one-hundred years ago, AI is replacing women first. The jobs that do remain must be given to men exclusively to prevent them from going off the deep end—or worse, becoming radicalized against the corporations gaming our global economy.

Well, I’m probably going to get a little feedback for this, but……I disagree with you. I did not look at this as no girls allowed. They brought the top tech people with them. Maybe I am unaware of the top female tech person, but my mind doesn’t immediately go there. I feel so equal to a man, that I never feel diminished.

I always welcome your comments even if you disagree with me, so no worries.

Consider the reality that Trump's Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles, was not in the meeting, but his deputy Chief of Staff, a man, was. The meeting which was taking place in the photo above included no tech moguls, just the President's top brass, including his tech policy advisor and ambassador to China, and the Chinese leaders who fulfill equal roles of leadership in their country. (I have replaced the photo which now includes names of the individuals seated.)

This president's administration has been loud and clear about its opposition to women's workplace equality and reproductive rights. No equality there. I'm sure you're aware. This will surely impact pay equity and a woman's potential for advancement. It's still a man's world. Women are still paid less for equal work.

And, when it comes to AI displacing women first, a recent study by the World Economic Forum puts it this way: Examples of occupations that look set to be disrupted in the United States include medical administrative assistant (91% female) and office manager (88% female). Augmented fields, meanwhile, include electrical engineer (94% male) and mechanical engineer (89% male).

So my point is not to say that women don't feel equal, but according to the direction of this administration and the trajectory of AI in the workplace, women will not be treated equally.

First of all, great job, adding all of the names and titles! Ok, I stand corrected. My mind doesn’t immediately go to the obvious often enough. I looked at the photo, and thought, wow, this is huge seeing the USA and China working together. Oh well, I’ll go back under a rock again.

It was Newsweek that added those titles, I just switched out the image to include them. And there were a number of other meetings during the conference that DID include all the tech tzars--so you had that right. So, no, please don't go back under your rock 😭

The photo is comical. The fact that both countries thought they had to have an army of men at the meeting is ridiculous. Three women from each side would have had it all put to bed in half the time. Men showboat; women get things done.

True. Since the dawn of time.
