Liberators In Action: Meathead Movers
If you believe that human kindness is waning, rest assured it’s still thrusting itself into life’s most difficult situations and showing up where you least expect it. Today’s Liberators in Action, Aaron and Evan Steed, are living proof.
As founders of Meathead Movers, California’s largest, independent moving company, the two brothers have been liberating victims of domestic violence for 27 years by packing up their household belongings and moving them out of danger quickly.
Offering their services free of charge to both male and female victims of abuse, they work in tandem with local domestic violence-prevention shelters to ensure a safe transition into a more peaceful home environment.
Since 2015, Aaron and Evan have also played a critical role in motivating other moving companies around the country to coalesce around their cause, resulting in the formation of #MoveToEndDV.
#MoveToEndDV has grown to include over 200 businesses that pledge free services to survivors of domestic violence which go beyond moving support. As victims struggle to get back on their feet, these companies provide much-needed security services, auto repair, handyman work, and self-storage for free.
Through Meathead Movers, the Steeds have gained notoriety by following their hearts and putting their shoulders to the boulder to uplift countless victims of domestic violence. Their actions remind us that empathy still wins the day.
And through the selfless acts of the many who’ve joined #MoveToEndDV, we’re also reminded that the arc of the moral universe continues to bend toward justice in countless unseen ways.
Behind all the dark news featured prominently across social media, we are heartened to see a rising tide of people around the world going the extra mile to bring comfort, support, and loving hands to others in need.
Love endures.
