Shifting Energy

Knowledge

My thoughts have been caught up in exploring how to shift the energy in my home to feel more balanced, calm and harmonious. My energy gets disrupted not if, but when, I get triggered from the news, my own or others emotions, negative thoughts and conversations and beliefs about what could happen. There isn't much I can do to alter the big picture so I decided to focus on where I could make a difference..my own well-being and those I come in contact with.

I know a tiny bit about and use Feng Shui as my default system when I want to create a big energy shift in my home. It may seem woo-woo or a waste of time, however, it is quite powerful. My understanding is that Feng Shui is a Chinese system of laws that focuses on balance and harmonization of energy in one's living space. The first rule, the only one I know well, is to declutter regularly by removing items you no longer need or use to create a clean and organized space that promotes positive energy. In addition, the benefits of decluttering are proven by research as a practice that can reduce stress and anxiety and improve overall mental and emotional well-being. Who doesn't want that!

Feng Shui suggests moving 27 items as a symbolic gesture to achieve this shift in energy flow. This disrupts stagnant energy and invites new positive vibration. According to Numerology (an ancient system that alleges numbers have a symbolic meaning and influences human life and destiny) the number 27 is significant because when it is reduced (2+7) it equals 9. The number 9 represents completion, letting go and wisdom. Therefore, move 27 items.

I've been eagerly immersed in decluttering: give away, throw away or relocate were my three options. It doesn't matter what you move to create this shift or how tiny the area you are working with. What matters is doing a little something each day to loosen stagnant energy and get positive energy flowing. The good news it does not take long to move 27 items.

While I generally keep my home neat, organized and decluttered, there is always some place to work with...the spice drawer, book shelves, the stack of greeting cards I hold on to, old medical records, journals and doesn't everyone have at least one junk drawer. Pretty quickly I noticed the house felt energetically different. When I tossed out old medical records and journals which focused a lot on my illness there was a distinct lightness in my body letting go of what was over.

If you have experiences of decluttering and shifting the energy in your home I would be curious to hear about the benefits you noticed and how you achieved the shift.

Well Street

Whether Feng Shui is woo-woo or not, a decluttered home always brings a feeling of order and accomplishment for me. If I do a deep clean in the kitchen, for example, I'll spend time afterward to appreciate the whitened grout, sparkling linoleum, and my efforts.

It's great that throwing out the medical records had a palpable effect on you. The energy contained in those documents won't be missed, I'm sure.

Always good to hear from a fellow declutter-er.
Taking the time to keep "our nest" balanced and neat keeps our mind and emotions the same way. And it just feels good 😊
Thank you for sharing your experience.

I had a friend who cleaned house whenever she was upset about something. In a way, it was reflective of cleaning up the dark matter cluttering her mind. I thought it was a brilliant way of killing two birds with one stone: getting the house cleaned and sorted while doing the same for her mind. But you bring in an added perspective with Feng Shui.

Since I work with ideas, much of my clutter is brainstorming notes kept in files and notepads, including a cluttered filing folder on my laptop that's stuffed with documents that need to be filed. I think I'll move 27 of those items into their proper folders tomorrow, and I'll let you know if I feel better. I'm sure I will!

Thanks for sharing this knowledge and revealing the numerology tip. I had never heard of it but I'm looking forward to the positive outcome.

Present Valley

I look forward to hearing the result of moving your 27 folders.
I'm glad you found this article helpful and that I introduced you to

Just last week, I finally moved my winter clothes to the top shelf of my closet and have my coats ready to store in the attic. Now my summer items are neatly stacked front and center, and I feel relieved it's done. Also recently, the garage got a good cleaning and that was a big relief.

Now, your "27 items" article has me on the lookout for what comes next. Thank you 🌞

Present Valley

Relief is often one of those feelings that show up as a result of the shift.
You are way ahead...and it sounds like there may be more shifting to come. Have fun 😊

I enjoyed your article. I don't keep clutter, but there are times I feel a need to shift the energy around me...so I open windows, listen to flute music, sit up straight, avoid negative talk, and take long walks in nature. Even watching a praying mantis on a tree do its thing can shift me into hope and amazement. The world feels toxic and slimy now, so anything we can do to refresh our heart, our mind, and our living space is good..sometimes it gives me a whole new outlook. Maybe there is some clutter that's settled into my "junk" drawer...yup, I have one of those too.

Present Valley

Thank you for sharing your "decluttering" process...and most important that it helps to shift mind/body/spirit. We did need practices
right now that improve our well-being, mental and emotional states.

Happy to read you are also the owner of a "junk drawer." 😊
