If it feels good, it’s gotta be good. Right?
I don’t know, but I think we’ve come so far in this world that people no longer believe there is right or wrong. Anything goes and everything goes. If it feels good, it’s gotta be good. If it feels bad, well, tough luck, not my problem. It’s your karma.
Having this Shangri-la outlook that everything is just peachy is insulting to my intelligence, and I think we should all get back to reality. Breaking rules is the new normal, and I’m not going to cheer it on. But try to tell someone that and they get uppity, like I’m raining on EVERYONE’s parade.
Having no rules is like an excited chihuahua wiggling around your house peeing on everything and everyone. But the minute you express some displeasure about anything, say, someone lighting firecrackers into the wee hours of the morning, you’re branded a fascist, or told to get a life, or crawl back under the rock you came from, or if you’re old enough, “Who let you out of the old folks home?” That’s normalcy these days. But why?
What happened to rules and respect for others?
I guess in mainstream society the big thing that matters most is education in technology—not how to get along in society. Gotta have those drones and robots doing all the work so that everyone else can have more time to shop on dumb stuff like deodorant that keeps you smelling fresh for a week—some sort of a Febreze for unpleasant smelling body parts. I don’t get it. Now you don’t need to even take a shower? So you can do what instead? Spend more time surfing the web for more goodies?
I’ll tell you what I think is wrong. I think we’re going to hell in a hand basket. When all those guys at the tippy top have no rules, or just aren’t held accountable to any rule, then as the saying goes, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander…anyone can be rotten and feel great about it. I don’t even want to think about all the losers wearing suits at the top who ignore their conscience and then when they get caught they just deny it and point fingers at the other guy. Well, fellas, grow up for once in your life and see if you can motivate your ass to set a better example for younger, not-so-crusty guys like me. But I won’t hold my breath. Instead I have some advice for you.
1) If you’re taking the easy way out and putting no effort into being honorable, you’re building no spiritual muscle to get you through the harder times that are sure to come your way.
2) If you think you can rob others and get away with it, be it their catalytic converter, a package at someone else’s doorstep, or their legal rights because that makes you part of the in-crowd, you’d better think twice. The in-crowd doesn’t stay in for long, and when they go, they’ll take you down with them.
3) There’s nothing wrong with being moral, thoughtful and wise. It’s the civil thing to do. Being anything less is a sign that you’re a lazy ass without purpose or moral compass. Never mind that indifference to your soul never works out for anyone in the long run, but do you really feel good about being a contemptible sh*thead?
4) I’m not the most intelligent guy, I get that, but I think I could pass a compliance test better than most if I study the rules. So study the rules of life. They can be found in every philosophy and religion. You like shopping online? Buy some books. If your brain can’t handle a book, surf the web for a quote site and get busy reading the thoughts of the world’s great leaders.
5) Finally, take a class in manners, proper etiquette, healthy diet, and cleanliness. Basically, polish yourself up inside and out and start being a kind human being. If you don’t know what that means, look it up and put it to work in your life. Then, you won’t need others to make you feel like a real man.
Goodbye for now. As always, I welcome your comments.

This roadmap to living with civility, honor, and morality that you've laid out is spot-on and much appreciated.
It's clear that a large swath of society has either forgotten or never learned these vital "back to basics" lessons.

You're a straight talker, and I like that! Something needs to be done so I suggest displaying your five bits of advice on billboards across the U.S. for all to see.

Nations that preach moral values but dance with the devil have no moral compass for citizens to follow. As above so below.

People tend to follow others, and generally those others are on social media because that's where people get their news, information, and entertainment these days. Within this theatre are endless clowns vying for special attention, views, and likes. The more outrageous their behavior the better. And they are called influencers because they influence others to be just like them.
