Today
No idea who wrote this, but I thought I'd share it.
Two days have bothered men for years,
Have worried them with needless fears;
But yesterday is past and done,
Tomorrow has not yet begun,
So make the most of this one day,
Today is yours, so heed the way,
You use these hours—the deeds you do
Will mark the past and future, too.
Today is yours, each sunbright hour,
Each passing storm and sudden shower;
But you can face it, come what may,
For GOD is there to show the way.
I pledge to live fully in this day, today.

Thank you for this beautiful poem and the helpful reminder!!!
I’m in Rome right now about to start an 11 day cruise to the Mediterranean and I definitely want to live it one day at a time. I wholeheartedly join you in your pledge.

Escape the pain of the past and fear of the future, and enjoy the present we receive when we're in the present.

That's the plan 🙏🏻

Love the photo! If I were sitting at the water's edge under that gorgeous sky, I'd lose myself in its present moment.
My favorite part of the poem is the idea that the deeds we do will mark the past and future, too. It reminds me that every deed, big or small, churns a steady legacy of who we are, who we become, and what we leave behind. It gives us a good reason to be present to it as it's happening. Your pledge inspires me to pour more of myself into all significant or even insignificant present moments.

That's a good way of putting it!
