Being at Peace With Your Conscience

Knowledge

The following passage from Gold Dust has always given me a sense of protection, knowing that my guardian angel is near at hand:

“Would you be at peace with your conscience? Let your Guardian Angel find you at each moment of the day: praying, working, striving after holiness and practicing patience. And try to add to the above the following virtues: method, faith, spiritual combat, perseverance.”

And it has been a great comfort to me to know that these little counsels have come my way and given me a blessing, as she writes here:

“They will not be importunate, will not even ask to be preserved; they do not desire fame; all that they seek is to convey a transient blessing.”

Charlotte Yonge was also an instrumental member of the Oxford Movement, a mid 19th century faction of high church officials of the Church of England, who sought a return to a more classic Catholic religious practice, including the glory and beauty of a Catholic mass. For all her brilliance and fortitude, she was also deep down a romantic.

In bringing these messages from 1897 back to life, it is my hope that as you contemplate them, the same blessings are conveyed to you.

The entirety of Gold Dust can be found on line as a pdf, or at many of the on-line sellers like Abebooks, Amazon or EBay.

Well Street

I'm very happy to accept a blessing, transient or otherwise. This is a reminder to keep my eyes and heart open for such blessings so they'll be recognized.

I felt a great deal of peace as I read this. I welcome my Guardian Angels and say thanks for whatever blessings they wish to deliver.
