That's too funny you mention him. Though he eventually returned, he had disappeared when we came on home leave so I didn't see him on that visit, so I didn't know he had a habit of biting anyone. The way Yiayia said his name, or the mina bird said it, I was sure it was a Japanese name, Baichu, as if Issa who washed our hopscotch off had named him. I first learned of the real spelling of his name after reading one of your stories--I think I mentioned this before.
