Dolly was an outlier. Beyond her talent for writing 3000 great songs, it was her courage to strike out on her own in country music that most impressed me. It was so unusual and ballsy for a woman, considering the genre and the time she was living through. Fortunately for us, her music, kindness, and wisdom will live on in our hearts.
