Across our country, detainees are being treated this way despite national and international laws that make such treatment illegal. Part of the problem is this: the dregs of society are being hired into these jobs and glorified for their exceptional cruelty. A moral person—and I know there are some who work in these detention centers—would not participate in such treatment. Instead, they would likely help the victims of such abuse get their stories to the press. I have read so many stories like these and I am sickened every time.
