Tennessee Tosses Last Black Democratic District

Tennessee has the 10th largest black population in the nation. And, yet, since the Supreme Court chucked a major portion of the Voting Rights Act last week, Tennessee's Republicans passed redistricting maps today to eliminate the state's one Democratic, Black-majority congressional district. 

Now, all nine congressional districts in Tennessee will lean Republican, effectively negating the Black vote which largely leans Democrat.

I've heard pundits from both sides of the aisle refer to the onslaught of gerrymandering and the further weakening of democracy, started by Texas, as a race to the bottom. It looks like Tennessee is vying for first place in that race, but South Carolina is indicating it covets the spot for itself.
