When You're A Star They Let You Do It

In contrast to his staged, glorified descent down the golden elevator, our president signaled who he really was when he said, "I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab 'em by the pussy. You can do anything..."

With those few words, we learned his mind operated below the belt, and without boundaries.

Still, half the nation cozied up to him because he felt familiar. He was one of them, not highfalutin. Instead of going out for a morning jog like his predecessors, he stuffed down burgers and sodas while watching television. He was all-American.

Despite his crudity, the Christians saw in him a golden opportunity to spread and grow the seeds of their "moral" agenda. They would divine him as a heavenly gift sent to lead America through the Great Tribulation. They would assemble their multitudes under revival tents and prop him up with bible in hand to restore his dignity. They would encircle him and pray over him, heads bowed to show God actually favored him. All this in exchange for an evil march toward theocracy.

He would, in turn, sell merchandise at their festive events.

The fans saw their own opportunity. If a man resembling them, flawed as he was, could become president, they could finally relax, let down their guard, and feel proud once more, even when acting out of their worst impulses.

The giddy Republican leadership also spotted a rare opportunity. With so many of their voters accepting Trump's autocratic ways, it would be easy sailing ahead with passing legislation to further benefit the rich and slam the rest of us.

In his second term, this president has continued to trample over all possible boundaries of social norms, legal norms, and constitutional norms. Tragically, of those in power, the majority has continued to look the other way. So, it should be no surprise he's crossed the Rubicon with initiating first strikes on other nations, unprovoked.

Now, everyone's looking at the mess we're in. It's huge. He and his team of bubbleheads haven't a clue how to fix things. What good does it do to carve out $800 billion in military spending, more than all other nations combined, if Iran has him by the Straight of Hormuz.

Meanwhile parents here at home and throughout the Middle-East are mourning the deaths of children, parents, siblings, and grandparents.

Nobody can thoughtfully explain why he did this, including himself. Trump's top security advisor for counterterrorism resigned yesterday by stating Iran was not an imminent threat. He should know.

People should know that during the last day of negotiations, before the bombing started, Iran agreed to hand over any partially enriched uranium. But because Trump needed valor, attention, and applause once more, he ordered his team to walk out of the negotiations and leave the gift on the table.

He doesn't deserve applause. This is mass murder. This is the great Satan Iran worried about.
