Notable Quotable: MTG On Putting Down Her Knives
Sometimes people repent. Sometimes they apologize. Even politicians, which is extremely rare. Marjorie Taylor Green did both when she came clean on CNN. Is it a profound conversion or is it temporary political theatre? She deserves the benefit of the doubt.
“I would like to say humbly I’m sorry for taking part in the toxic politics. It’s very bad for our country. It’s something I’ve thought about a lot, especially since Charlie Kirk was assassinated, is that we…I’m only responsible for myself and my own words and actions. And I am going—I am committed—and I’ve been working hard on this a lot lately— to put down the knives in politics. I really just want to see people be kind to one another. And we need to figure out a new path forward that is focused on the American people, because, as Americans, not matter what side of the aisle we’re on, we have far more in common than we have differences.”

Well Street
None of us thought we'd see the day.
Some think that despite what she says, she's eyeing a higher office and is being advised to broaden her appeal with non-MAGA voters. One commentator, speaking about Greene's significant contributions to the toxic political environment over the years, likened her "mia culpa" to an arsonist who feels apologetic after losing their house in a fire.
It would be great if her new perspective is legit, but her support of his policies, including ICE, remains steadfast. She may try to morph into a kinder, gentler, and non-knife-wielding version of MAGA. Oh, the contradictions.

Did you know she co-owns a cross-fit gym?

The truth is, there's something much larger, vastly more powerful, deeply entrenched, and so unmovable that MTG will have to bow to it like all politicians must. And it's not Donald Trump I'm talking about. It's the global power brokers who own and control the wealth, the arms, the technology, the oil and rare earth minerals, water rights and skyways.
MTG can encourage her followers to be kinder, and if that's all she does, it will be a positive. Still, she'll likely support many of his policies right now to keep her MAGA base. But she's probably already receiving threats for speaking out about her differences with him. The news media loves it.
