Hostages are home!

News Flash

I have been waiting for this announcement, but I haven’t seen it yet. I guess I’ll do it! I am so happy the last of the Israeli hostages have been released. Obviously, I am sick that not one woman came home. I can’t imagine what they went through.

Yes, some happy families tonight. I pray for those whose loved ones didn't come home.

Thank you for posting this. I'm so glad you did. It's not easy to write about this. It's heartbreaking, actually. As much as I felt joy for the families of those who were released, I felt utter sadness for the two families who expected their sons to be among those released, only to suddenly learn they were deceased. And there are others who died in captivity who cannot be found. So, bitter sweet all the way around.

The last of the women who had been held in captivity were released 8 months ago. They were all military observers who kept eyes on Gaza from their military base at Nahal Oz a few hundred meters away.

Prior to the attack, they had warned superiors for months of signs that Hamas might attack, but they were ignored. When the attack happened, they begged for help but no one came. Instead, many were trapped in their situation room, and became easy targets. Hamas set it on fire. One of the women escaped and became one of these hostages, but according to this article, most burned to death.

One can only cry for what happened on that awful day, but one must also wonder why their warnings went unheeded for so long and no assistance came when the attack was taking place.

Oh, I heard terrible things about what happened to the women in captivity. Some people wanted to make Hamas out to be noble angels or something similar, but no way! Women are always expected to provide "comfort" to the fighters in all wars, and they always kidnap the women from enemy territory and use them up. There were photos of young Israeli women taken from the festival on Oct. 7. I get sick when I think about the brutality they experienced. May all those who perished in this tragic war rest in peace. May their families find healing through prayer and faith in God. Above all, may this "peace" be everlasting.
