Look at America's short history, and how it's been manipulated to make white folks always look heroic. And when some of the real truths were put in the history books, it upset people, so now it's being stripped out again.
Just imagine how stories from 2000 years ago or more, have been translated, rewritten, and removed to suit whoever happened to be in charge over the centuries.
Besides people who quote the Bible only choose the passages they like. If it doesn't suit their belief, they ignore it.
The bible has been reinterpreted and misinterpreted millions upon millions of times. The original words have most often been altered (botched) by men seeking personal glorification or satisfying their hunger to start wars or new religions, or enslave and brutalize certain races of people and those who refuse to agree with them. Nothing has changed.
That said, Christianity follows the New Testament wherein its core message is love. Anything less than love is not Christian no matter how anyone chooses to twist it.
