Who Loves You?

Wish has not yet been granted
Wishing Well

Have you ever wondered who loves you? Have you questioned who has your back? Or who might show up for you in times of need?

This is a question many people struggle to answer, especially as their circle of friends diminishes. I often hear about such stories, and it makes me sad. Friends move on, others pass on, and family can’t be counted on.

If you find yourself worrying about who will be there for you, I can say this with certainty: it will be those who you give time to—those you show appreciation to and accept for who they are.

Last week, my nephew Paul called to say he was in the vicinity and asked if he could stop by to bring over some delicious ice cream from a special place called El Michoacano, which was about 20 minutes away.

It was in the middle of the workday, and I was thrilled at the thought of having a break from the grind and a bowl of ice cream, especially with him. Most of all I was surprised he called. It was just so unexpected and it made my day.

When Paul finished up with the business that brought him to town, he could have rushed back onto the freeway to avoid the inevitable bumper-to-bumper traffic. Instead, he chose love.

Paul's decision was not just about having ice cream, it was not just about a quick visit, it was even much more than the warm embraces we shared during our special two hour visit. It was an act of love.

When is the last time you went out of your way to show up for someone else?

My wish is for more people to experience such love from others.

June in December

I'm glad things worked out that day, and I'm touched by your words about it!

Present Valley

A much needed wish to come true for all of us.

Your story reminds me how important it is to take a few minutes to give love and....also be open to taking it, savoring it when it comes our way.

I notice too often those who brush off a loving gesture as they rush through their day.

Serenity Township

What a great story and post! So true.

I was thrilled that I was there to enjoy the ice cream and good vibes too. It was one of those surprises that puts a smile on your face and a glow in your heart. A very special day.

Paul is well-versed in open-heartedness and acts of kindness. We're fortunate to have him.
