A businessman is suing Apple after his wife finds text messages to prostitutes that he deleted from his iPhone but which remained visible on other linked Apple devices.
Oops, that nasty little thing called karma stepped in. I can just imagine all the people who are now checking to make sure they have an iCloud account. You outdid yourself Tony, this was a very fun find (at least for me, but no so much for the "perp") 😀
LOL I've already gotten several comments from people about how big a kick they got out of this story. And so did I when I first read it. Still, I do hope it serves as a reminder to people that deletion doesn't necessarily mean it's no longer accessible! ;-)
It will be a sad day if this case makes it to court and even sadder should the guy win. If the plaintiff scores a victory, will Apple have to put a special warning in the iPhone manual, much like the ones on hairdryers warning users to avoid using them in the shower?
Your video has confirmed that my messages must not be linked to the Cloud because I have texts on my desktop that go back years whereas they are automatically deleted after 1 year on my phone.
Thing is, I have no idea what the laws are in Great Britain. Here in the US, I don't think this case would get very far. I'll be curious to see what happens here.
