The Times They Are A-Changin!
Despite those who fight it, the arc of history continues to bend toward justice.
Across the country, nearly 70% of all municipal offices are held by men, though they remain less than 50% of the population. But for the city of St. Paul, Minnesota, the gender gap disappeared when its voters elected an all-female city council for the first time in its history, and perhaps the first time in the nation’s history.
This brings to mind the words from Bob Dylan’s song, The Times They Are A-Changin:
The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin'
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'

This is good news. If only we could balance out that statistic you referenced and have representation equal to population percentage. St. Paul will be interesting to follow over the next few years. Thanks for posting!

It will be intriguing to see the trajectory of St. Paul with women at the helm.
Inventor and creator of the Wonder Woman comic book character, William Marston, would applaud this development in Minnesota. He was a huge proponent of women's rights and believed that a woman president would set the country on the right path.
Interestingly, data collected by The Guardian shows countries led by women during the height of the pandemic had “systematically and significantly better” outcomes than those led by men.
