The Juke Box!
THE JUKE BOX SITS IN THE CORNER. It is the first thing you see when you wake up in the morning. The first thing you hear. This morning it’s playing, Good Morning, Beautiful, so low, it’s barely audible. If you’re wise, you’ll soak that in, let the message fill you.
Your Juke Box doesn’t judge, it doesn’t prompt; it doesn’t do anything but wait for you to make your choice. Once you do, it will oblige for as long as you want it to. The Juke Box is stocked with possibilities.
Remember that whatever you choose to play will set the mood for the entire day. Yesterday, as you were getting ready for work, you chose: I Hate Everything, I Would Cry, and Summertime Blues. Maybe it had something to do with the fact you didn’t get that bonus you were expecting. Your workday was hell; everyone could see you were in a foul mood. Later that night, you played Neglected, and Tonight I Want to Cry. You wonder why people stayed away.
But Today, you have a new opportunity to choose again. The Juke Box doesn’t care about what you chose yesterday. It’s a new day. The choices abound. Here are some suggestions for you: Right Where I Need to Be, Breathe, Only This Moment, and I Believe in Love. How do you think your day would unfold if these were the picks for the day?
Every morning you have the opportunity to seize the day, to start off on your given path. Whether the path is set or not, your attitude doesn’t have to be. You might not be able to get out of being at the meeting, but you can view it differently.
I encourage you to make a playlist. Choose what’s on the list based on how it makes you feel, not on how you’re feeling. You’ll be amazed at the results.
The Juke Box waits for you. It wants to please you. Let it.
And as you go to sleep tonight, after the day has come and gone, never to show its face again, what will you hear?
Maybe tonight you’ll choose wisely and play:
Goodnight, my love,
Pleasant dreams and sleep tight, my love.
May tomorrow be sunny and bright . . .
