Liberator in Action: Grant Mullen

News Flash

When we think of liberators, we don’t usually imagine a boy with a birthday cake and a guest list. But maybe that’s because we’ve misunderstood what liberators are all about.

After volunteering with his father at a recreation center for people with special needs, Grant Mullen realized something heartbreaking: many of those kids rarely got invited to birthday parties. So when his own birthday came around, he asked for something unexpected. He wanted everyone at the center to be invited to celebrate with him. “Sometimes people don’t get as much love,” Grant said. “It’s sad.” In a world that teaches kids birthdays are all about getting, Grant showed what it looks like to give love instead.

Grant’s kindness reminds us that compassion can be taught. Children can grow into adults who notice the lonely, include the forgotten, and make life happier for others. Liberators are rarely defined by power or status. They are defined by love in action. Happy Birthday, Grant!

Oh, my goodness. This is so touching. What an amazing child. Let's me know we needn't worry so much about the next generation that's growing up right now.
