Does Facebook Owe You Money?

News Flash

A longstanding class action against Facebook has been settled. If you had an active account between May 2007 and December 2022 you can apply to receive a piece of the $725 million settlement.

The settlement has come as a result of litigation triggered by the privacy scandal involving Cambridge Analytica in 2018. Multiple lawsuits were filed against Facebook by users claiming their privacy was compromised when their private data was shared with third parties, advertisers, and data brokers.

Settlement payouts will depend on the number of settlement class members who submit a claim. If you were an active facebook user during the specified time period, you can file a claim even if your account has since been deleted. The deadline for submitting the claim is August 25, 2023.

Thank you for sharing. Even if it's for a couple of nickels, I'll add my name based on principle.

I too was glad to see this posted. It wasn't publicized as "loudly" as it should have been, and it's just a hand slap for a company that has been proven to have no moral compass. My claim has been filed, and I will happily spend my two nickels knowing that they are Facebook's nickels.
