Bequeathed Bodies Memorialized at Medical Schools

Sacred ceremonies honoring donor bodies are being performed by medical students in 9 out of 10 allopathic medical schools across the country. Considered to be their “first patient,” donor bodies give students deeper insights and richer learning experiences than 3-D and virtual reality software can offer.

During any ceremony, whether inside the lab or out, students offer their respect and gratitude to the deceased donor, mindful of the life that was and the precious gift that is now in their hands. Although the donor can never be paid back, students will pay it forward by applying the knowledge they’ve received.  Read more in The Conversation.
