They're Not Facts!

Acknowledge that the thoughts in your mind (about 60,000 per day) aren't facts. Just because you have a thought, doesn't make it true. Observe your thoughts. When an upsetting one comes up, ask yourself, "Is this a fact?" If it's just a theory, let it go. Stay present! That's where peace resides.
It's easy to get distracted by all the chaos in our brains. How can we not? It's tempting to believe everything we think. But if I were to ask you how many of your thoughts actually came to pass, I'd be willing to say, none. Or not many.
Don't believe all your thoughts to be gospel. See them for what they are: a clear distraction that keeps you from living in the now.

Well said!

Never thought about it that way. Makes sense, on so many levels and applications. Thank you

You're very welcome! I'm happy it provided you with another perspective.

At least I know my thoughts aren't gospel, but they are sometimes very annoying 😃
Sanatana
For sure they can be very annoying and repetitive!

This reminds me of my studies of cognitive behavioral therapy. The fallacies of "mind reading", "predicting the future", and "should" statements are common and rife with pitfalls.
Cheers to your suggestion to dismiss the distractions and be in the Now.

Thank you! I know it can be challenging, but it's the only way to stay present.
