Just Around the Corner...

Knowledge

Things happen in life. Things we don’t like. Things that make us feel bad, and create turbulence. Sometimes those things seem like Everything—like it will be bad forever.

Imagine walking down a sidewalk where there’s construction going on. There’s unsafe electrical equipment, possible falling objects, trash bins, porta potties, lumber, etc. Maybe you have to step over some extension cords, or some concrete. Perhaps you have to walk around a saw. And maybe as you’re walking your foot slips into a hole and you hurt yourself. This is the worst block ever, you think. But you keep going. The end of the block is just a few minutes away.

Finally, with a slight limp, you get to the end and turn the corner onto a beautifully tree-lined street. You can see the lake at the end of the street; the boats, a lemonade stand, and the summer crowd enjoying the day. Gorgeous.

Life can be like that. Chances are good that you will have to walk through that rough block to get to your beautiful tree-lined street. It may take a few minutes, hours, days, or longer. If you were to stop, you’d never round the corner and discover the greatness awaiting you.

When life becomes rough, when it hurts you, and you feel like giving up, DON’T! Keep going. Place one foot in front of the other. Before you know it, you’ll round the corner. And there, you’ll find peace, beauty, and joy.

Slipstream

You're so right; rough patches turn into beautiful fields. The journey requires patience, and sometimes lots of it.

Sanatana

Patience, that's the key!

Well Street

Great metaphor. I could actually see the lake and boats as I rounded the corner.
