There are so many reasons people won't let go, most are complicated involving prestige, finances, lack of imagination of how to move forward alone, and faith that one is supposed to be with that person, regardless of temper and disrespect--much in the same way people overlooked Trump's faults and penchant for disrespecting the truth, morality, and rule of law.
