Create Some Space!

When you feel stressed out, it can feel very overwhelming; as if there were no way out. In times like this (which affects most of us at one time or another), try thinking about the moments in your life that generate inner calm. Is it sitting outside soaking up the sunlight? Going for a walk? Sitting on the beach listening to the ocean sing? Reading an entertaining book, listening to music, etc? Whatever it is, create space in your life so that you are able to move from chaos to peace.
Dwelling in negative space sucks our mental and physical energy. Shifting gears and soothing our souls is one way to reset our spirit.

You're so right. Every afternoon I take a 20 minute break from everything to sit with a cup of tea and say what I'm grateful for in that moment. It's very relaxing and sheds the stress from my mind and body. I feel 20 minutes out of the day as a gift to myself is an okay thing; no guilt. Thanks for your post!

I've learned that stress requires us to take such moments of space so that we can come back to our responsibilities with a less reactive perspective. Honestly, such moments are so liberating. They help me focus for just a few minutes on myself. And in those moments I get a grip on reality and realize—no, things aren't spinning out of control, it's only the pressure that settles on me when I fail to give myself a much-needed break.
